Hartley Meinzer is originally from Long Island, NY, where he was a high school art teacher for thirty years. Upon retiring in 1992, he moved to Supply, NC (Holden Beach), where he lived for fifteen years, before moving to Asheville. During these many years he have produced contemporary art (paintings, sculptures, collages, etc.) in a variety of mediums; most of his paintings are done in acrylics.

Over the past fifty years, Hartley has exhibited his work in numerous galleries, art shows, and museums on Long Island and in North Carolina. He has had work displayed in The Heckshire Museum in Huntington, Long Island, as well as The St. John’s Museum of Art and The Louise Wells Cameron Museum of Art in Wilmington, NC. He has received a good number of awards, and was once named one of the top 50 artists in North Carolina.
