Thanks for asking!
After serving 8 years in the Army as a medic and deploying to Iraq in 2004, I came home to begin my secondary education. I started with a base in psychology and human development at the University of Vermont, added registered nursing coursework from Excelsior College of Nursing and most recently graduated as the Valedictorian at Montreat College with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Human Computer Interactions (User Experience/User Interaction Design). I live in Asheville North Carolina with my little buddy, a dog named Karma.
I’ve supplemented my formal secondary education with over 200 hours of continuing education and more than 100 certifications from Lynda.com, an online educational platform owned by LinkedIn; through video courses presented by industry experts. I have immersed myself in independent learning about responsive web design, graphic design, branding, color theory, typography, Adobe’s Creative Cloud applications, programming (including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and more), UX, and UI.
Knowing that didactic learning is enhanced by real-world experience, and having identified that my primary professional objective is to create and own a successful, web-based business (SiroisDesigns.com), I have added to my knowledge base by exploring entrepreneurship. In 2015, I co-founded a non-profit organization focused on helping veterans to reintegrate into their communities via nature and group activities, attended the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans’ residency at the Louisiana State University School of Business, and created the Hartley Meinzer Gallery, which displays and promotes the contemporary artwork of the elderly man with whom I spend quality time. In 2016, I handed off leadership of my non-profit mission in order to partner with a fellow veteran to co-found TroopScore.com, an initiative to help veterans and their families better navigate VA healthcare and benefits through vet-to-vet reviews and community support. Teaching myself each necessary skill as I went along, I designed and built TroopScore.com’s extensive directory website and social media presence on a bootstrapped budget.
I love to work with clients to discover what is needed and to create the best solutions. My priorities are quality, user-centric design and respect to client deadlines and budget. I love to share my enthusiasm and passion for design, so let’s connect! I am your go-to guy to get things done and am ready to demonstrate how I can contribute to the continued success of your team. You can be certain I will provide calculated, creative, and logical solutions that optimize your organization’s success with solid determination to get the job done right.
